Virgin Islands football fans who plan on watching Super Bowl LV between the defending champions Kansas City Chiefs and the Tom Brady-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers at their favorite bar or restaurant this Sunday will have more time to enjoy the game, thanks to an hour extension of the current Covid-19 restrictions.
Richard Motta Jr., Government House communications director, wrapped up the administration's Covid-19 press briefing Monday by announcing that effective only on Sunday, February 7 bars and restaurants will be able to sell alcohol to their patrons until 12:00 a.m and remain open until 1:00 a.m.
The game kicks off at approximately 7:30 p.m. Atlantic standard time, and with longer commercial breaks and a longer halftime there was a fear among football fans that the game could end after the closure of bars after 12 a.m. The Feb. 7 exception addresses this fear.
All other guidelines for restaurants remain in-place, including no bar sitting, restaurant capacity requirements, no groups larger than six at a table, and six feet between tables.
