Aliyah Boston on Wednesday accepted the Naismith Women's National Player of the Year award for best overall player in the country.

Virgin Islands basketball star Aliyah Boston on Wednesday accepted the Naismith Women's National Player of the Year as the country's best overall player. Boston, a star on the South Carolina Gamecocks team, was also awarded the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year as well as the Athletic's women's basketball player of the year.

Boston, who joins former Gamecocks star A'ja Wilson as the team's only winners of the Naismith Trophy, won over Iowa star Caitlin Clark, Stanford junior guard Haley Jones and Baylor senior forward NaLyssa Smith.

Boston is projected to be the overall No. 1 pick during the 2023 WNBA Draft. She is currently averaging 16.8 points and 12.2 rebounds per game. Boston is averaging 54.2 percent from the field in the current season.

 The Gamecocks will face No. 1 Louisville in the Final Four on Friday.
