The South Carolina Gamecocks are now preparing for their Elite Eight game in tonight’s regional final, having beaten UCLA on Saturday to advance out of the Sweet Sixteen round.
Saturday’s game was the 41st on South Carolina’s winning streak, with Virgin Islander Aaliyah Boston contributing eight points, 14 rebounds and two blocks for the team. Once again, Boston stood out. Twenty-nine seconds into the first quarter, she sank a jumper, putting the first two points on the scoreboard.
By the end of the second half, Boston had bagged 9 rebounds, almost as many as the opposing side had combined. Once the final whistle blew, her 14 rebounds were twice as many as each of two next most prolific in that area.
At 7:00 pm Monday night, the Gamecocks will play their seventh Elite Eight game in program history, against #2 seed Maryland.
