A Caribbean Dance performance.

The Caribbean Dance School will be hosting the final day of its electrifying annual student performance showcase on Saturday, June 11 at Island Center for the Performing Arts.

Showtime will be at 7:30 each night for a donation fee of $20.00. Tickets will be available at the door.

In 1977, the founding directors of the Caribbean Dance Company of the Virgin Islands made a commitment to elevating the medium of dance as a means of preserving our unique West Indian and Virgin Islands cultural heritage. Two years later, that commitment led to the opening of the Caribbean Dance School. Despite years of economic uncertainty, natural disasters and most recently a worldwide pandemic, Caribbean Dance is still here and grateful for the opportunity to celebrate its 45th year on June 10th and 11th with its “2022 Students of Caribbean Dance Showcase”.

The annual student performance remains a premier family-oriented event, offering the Virgin Islands community the opportunity to come together and celebrate the accomplishments of the youth. Through the Caribbean Dance School, CDC remains committed to helping every child that has a desire to dance because we have seen firsthand that artistic expression has the power to transform lives.

Weekly classes are offered throughout the year at their Christiansted dance studio and children can begin their dance training at the age of two years; toddlers, children, teens, adults and seniors train in a comprehensive curriculum of Caribbean, African, Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, and Jazz dance styles with CDC's directors and instructors.

All told, Caribbean Dance School has served thousands of students with direct dance training, providing a platform for the dancers to showcase their amazing talents while investing in their future. Forty-Five years later, the company is inviting the community to join in for the final event tonight "as we remember and reflect on our cultural legacy."

The release ends by stating that CDC is "Always EVOLVING, Forever INNOVATIVE, we remain Authentically CARIBBEAN!"
