The Consortium's Ernice Gilbert will interview Governor Albert Bryan and Lieutenant Governor Tregenza Roach today, as the platform kicks off its interviews season for the 2022 election cycle.

Messrs Bryan and Roach will be at the V.I. Consortium studios tonight at 7:00 p.m. for the interview, titled "Truth Be Told: A Primary Interview", where they are expected to be pressed on issues facing the territory as well as being given an opportunity to speak on their first-term achievements.

The planned interview, which will be carried live on the V.I. Consortium website and Facebook platforms, follows the cancellation of a forum that was set for today between the Bryan-Roach and Bernier-Benta teams ahead of the Democratic Primary set for August 6.

The Democratic Party recently issued a release stating that Bernier and Benta had abandoned the forum at the last minute, with party State Chair Cecile Benjamin expressing shock. However, in a message on their official page, the Bernier-Benta team said they never agreed to a forum and have asked for a debate instead.

Mr. Gilbert, the founder and publisher of V.I. Consortium and a journalist well versed on governmental, societal and political issues, said residents can expect an engaging interview free of fluff. "It will be an interview where serious matters are discussed," he said. "My goal is to help Virgin Islanders make up their minds as they prepare for the Democratic Primary on August 6."

Asked whether a similar event will be held with the Bernier-Benta team, Mr. Gilbert said Consortium staff would reach out to the candidates to schedule an interview.
