Bryan celebrates with supporters on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022.

Governor Albert Bryan on Sunday thanked supporters for his dominant victory over gubernatorial contenders Kent Bernier and Oakland Benta, who Mr. Bryan beat during the Democratic Primary Election Saturday.

In thanking his supporters, Mr. Bryan said, “Last night, Democratic voters affirmed their support for the job this administration has done to move our territory forward. Tregenza and I are extremely grateful for the support and the vote of confidence and thank all the voters who participated in the democratic primary election."

He added, “I also want to congratulate all the democrats who were successful last night and thank those who were not for putting themselves forward and encourage them to continue to engage the community and the Democratic Party. I also want to extend a special thank you to State Chairman Cecil Benjamin for his efforts to ensure collaboration and cooperation among democrats during his tenure."

The governor further stated that the "policies and initiatives led by a United Democratic Party have and continue to contribute greatly to the progress of our territory, and I look forward to campaigning alongside my fellow democrats as we continue together to address the challenges that remain.”

Mr. Bryan will face several candidates in the general election, including Senators Kurt Vialet and Janelle Sarauw, his most formidable contenders. Other candidates include Stephen "Smokey" Frett and Gregory "Brother" R. Miller Jr., an Independent Citizens Movement duo; and Independents Ronald Pickard and Elroy Turnbull.
