The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) has released a Request for Proposals (RFP C2025007) seeking qualified, experienced contractors to sell, install, test, and commission three (3) solar car charging stations with battery backup on its St. Thomas and St. Croix campuses. The RFP was released on August 11, 2025, and sealed proposals are due by 2:00 p.m. (AST) on September 15, 2025.
According to UVI, the project supports the university’s commitment to sustainability, renewable energy adoption, and energy resilience while providing accessible EV charging for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The selected contractor will provide equipment procurement, installation, site preparation, commissioning, and training of UVI Physical Plant staff in basic troubleshooting and maintenance. Two chargers will be installed on the Orville E. Kean Campus (St. Thomas) and one on the Albert A. Sheen Campus (St. Croix). Each charger must include battery storage and support debit/credit card payment capability. All equipment must be durable, weather-resistant, and fully operational prior to project handover.
