The V.I. Department of Health has announced plans to collaborate with the U.S. Department of Defense's Innovative Readiness Training Program to offer essential health services across the territory. Scheduled for 2025, this initiative aims to provide no-cost dental, vision, and general health screenings, examinations, and services to medically underserved residents of the Virgin Islands. Additionally, cybersecurity training will be included as part of the services offered.
The health services will be available at various locations throughout the islands, including public schools and other community-based sites. This effort is part of a broader strategy to enhance healthcare accessibility and quality for all island residents, leveraging military resources to address critical health service gaps.
Individuals, including medical providers and labor union representatives, who have inquiries or wish to express concerns regarding the military's involvement in these services, are encouraged to contact Dr. Tai Hunte-Caesar, Medical Director at the VI Department of Health. Dr. Hunte-Caesar can be reached by phone at 340-774-0117 or via email at [email protected]. Comments and objections must be submitted within 30 days following the publication of this notice.
The Virgin Islands Department of Health emphasizes that failure to file comments within the stipulated period will be considered a waiver of any objections to the involvement of military assistance in this health project.
