Man Jumps Into Sea at Waterfront in Charlotte Amalie, Dies

ST. THOMAS – A man has died after jumping into the sea at the Waterfront in Charlotte Amalie, with the victim succumbing before police could learn of a potential motive, police spokesman Toby Derima told the Consortium.

According to the V.I.P.D. news release, on Tuesday at approximately 3:51 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received a call from a concerned citizen that a male jumped into the water at the Charlotte Amalie waterfront.

Upon arrival to the scene, emergency personnel took the male out of the water and he was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center via ambulance for treatment. Mr. Derima said that despite efforts from medical personnel to revive the male, he was pronounced dead at around 4:48 p.m.

The male’s identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
