ST. THOMAS — The body of a man reported missing earlier this week was found on the eastern side of the Sapphire Beach Marina in St. Thomas on Saturday, according to the V.I. Police Department.
Jeffrey Coleman, a Caucasian male, standing between 5'8" and 5'11" and weighing approximately 200 pounds, was reported missing on June 23. The initial investigation indicated that Coleman was last seen in the area of Sapphire Beach Marina, where he resided, on Tuesday, June 20.
At approximately 7:25 p.m. on Saturday, investigators discovered the partially decomposed body of a male, believed to be Coleman. However, the identification of the body and the cause of death are yet to be confirmed, pending autopsy results.
The VIPD has classified this as a "missing person" case. With no suspects or additional charges specified as of now, police have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Coleman's disappearance and subsequent death.
