ST. CROIX -- The Department of Planning and Natural Resources has said through a press release issued on Wednesday that residents seeking to camp at Salt River Bay, the Christopher Columbus landing site, which is a National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve, will need to obtain permits.
Residents, however, have been camping at Salt River Beach for at least two weeks, as seen in the picture above.
According to D.P.N.R., permits will be issued for camping from Thursday, March 17, through Monday, March 21. Guidelines and permits are available at D.P.N.R.’s Division of Environmental Enforcement at Anna’s Hope, or call (340) 773-5774.
