ST. CROIX — A video that shows a woman entering the room of a sick hospital patient and proceeding to fight with patient did not occur at the Juan F. Luis Hospital, as the video — which started circulating on or around Dec. 10 — claims, said Juan F. Luis Hospital Acting CEO Dyma Wiliams.

According to JFL, the video started circulation on WhatsApp with the caption, "That is St. Croix Hospital."

"The good news is that the caption for the video is false. This fight did not occur at Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital & Medical Center. The incident occurred at Atlanta’s Piedmont hospital," JFL said in a release issued Sunday. "The safety of patients and caregivers on the JFL premises is paramount. It is unfortunate that this falsely captioned WhatsApp video gives the impression that this is not the case."

JFL said it recently made several strides in developing its security team, including the November graduation of Officers Dequan Bondieumaitre and Claudelle Abraham, the first hospital-based peace officers in the territory.

The JFL Police and Security Department provides protective services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on the JFL campus, according to the hospital. It said the Police and Security Department plays a pivotal role in maintaining a safe workplace for employees and care environment for patients by managing and deescalating aggressive behavior and conflict.
