ST. THOMAS — Senator Marvin Blyden, who checked into Schneider Regional Medical Center three days ago due to symptoms suggestive of food poisoning, is leaving the territory for additional medical examination, according to a statement released by his office.
The senator initially took precautionary measures and admitted himself into the hospital on June 9th after experiencing signs indicative of a foodborne illness. Despite a series of tests conducted by the hospital, the results remained inconclusive, prompting Blyden and his family to opt for further testing off-island.
The health scare has stirred concern among the public and his constituents, however those close to Blyden maintain a positive outlook. Members of his staff and family report that the senator is currently resting comfortably and remains in stable condition. They also expressed his eagerness to swiftly resume his legislative responsibilities.
Blyden and his family expressed their gratitude for this outpouring of support. "We are thankful to all who have voiced their concern for Senator Blyden's well-being. Your continued support and prayers are appreciated," the statement read.
Details of Senator Blyden's medical situation will continue to be closely monitored. For now, the senator and his family request their privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time.
