ST. CROIX -- On Tuesday the Department of Health (D.O.H.) announced that services would be suspended on St. Croix at the Charles Harwood facility in Christiansted, due to power outage and lack of air conditioning. The building was also breached due to severe damage caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria, including water infiltration throughout the facility.
The lack of power at the D.O.H. complex compounded internal infrastructural issues and as a result, D.O.H. Commissioner Michelle Davis determined that the facility was unsafe for employees and patients, the department said in a release issued late Wednesday.
Even so, D.O.H. says limited services will be provided through Friday at the Charles Harwood facility, while other sites are being assessed. Currently the following services are available at Charles Harwood, according to the department:
