Update at 12:00 p.m. on Fri. Jan. 13, 2023: Police have issued an all clear following a bomb threat at the V.I. Superior Court on St. Croix Friday morning that resulted in judges and prosecutors being evacuated from the facility. An investigation has been launched.

ORIGINAL STORY: ST. CROIX — The V.I. Superior Court on St. Croix was being evacuated Friday morning following a bomb threat against the judicial facility, the Consortium can confirm.

While judges and prosecutors have been evacuated, there were still people at the court, many of them in the parking lot area and people on the nearby Centerline Road.

Vehicles parked in the court's parking lot were not allowed to immediately leave as law enforcement were awaiting additional personnel to perform sweeps.

The bomb threat was made just after 10:00 a.m. and the court was evacuated at roughly 10:15 a.m.

It was not clear why the bomb threat was made, however on today's calendar was sentencing of cases.

The V.I. Superior Court has not responded to a request for comment.
