OMB Announces Second Round of Stipends for Social Security Recipients

The V.I. Office of Management & Budget has confirmed that the second round of Social Security Benefit stipend payments is underway for individuals who did not receive the stipend during the first phase.

The announcement comes as a significant relief to recipients who were left out during the first round of distributions in November 2022.

The move to in-person registration drives was implemented as a measure to assist recipients who struggled with electronic submissions due to limited access. "We would like to extend our gratitude to the community for their cooperation during these drives," said OMB Director, Jenifer C. O'Neal.

Since the in-person registration drives commenced on June 5th, 2023, OMB said it has processed over 800 cases, with 500 of them already approved for submission to the Department of Finance.

Despite the conclusion of the in-person registration drives, OMB on Tuesday assured that the registration portal will remain open until July 7th, 2023, for recipients who have yet to register. To complete the registration process, recipients are instructed to visit the OMB's official website at www.omb.vi.gov.

Required documents for the registration process include USVI photo identification, a Social Security Card, a copy of the monthly social security payment statement or IRS Form SSA-1099 indicating Social Security benefits prior to October 1, 2022, and a complete current mailing address in the Virgin Islands.

OMB acknowledged the community's patience and assures that every effort is being made to review submissions promptly and thoroughly.

For updates, recipients are encouraged to monitor local news and media platforms or visit the OMB’s website at https://omb.vi.gov. Importantly, recipients do not need to visit the OMB offices to provide any information.
