Lieutenant Governor Tregenza Roach departed the U.S. Virgin Islands today to attend the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Southeastern Zone Business Meeting being held in Greenville, South Carolina.

According to Mr. Roach's office, in his role as the territory’s Commissioner of Insurance, the lieutenant governor is a standing member of the NAIC and plays an active part in a wide range of meetings, trainings, and conferences organized by the national association. His attendance at these events is funded directly by the NAIC.

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners provides regulatory guidance, data, and expert analysis to state and territorial insurance commissioners across the nation. Its aim is to assist in the effective regulation of the insurance industry and ensure consumer protections are maintained across jurisdictions.

Mr. Roach currently holds the position of Secretary/Treasurer for the NAIC's Southeastern Zone. The zone includes 14 southeastern states, in addition to the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. The group gathers to review and discuss issues relevant to their respective geographic areas and to address shared concerns facing the insurance industry in their jurisdictions.

While he is away, Senate President Milton E. Potter will assume the duties of the lieutenant governor as provided for under the Revised Organic Act of the Virgin Islands. Roach is expected to return to the territory on Friday, April 11, 2025.
