Governor Albert Bryan will be away from the territory for approximately two weeks, during which he will be advancing several key policy priorities for his administration.
During Monday’s Government House press briefing, Communications Director Richard Motta said that this week, the governor will be in Washington D.C. to meet with “senior White House officials and several members of Congress.” Topics for discussion include the rum-cover over issue, the prospects for reopening the refinery on St. Croix’s south shore, and the possible waiver of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s cost-sharing requirements for disaster recovery projects.
Mr. Bryan is also scheduled to host a luncheon for Jobs for America’s Graduates Board of Directors, of which he is the national vice chair. The governor is also slated to receive an award for the territory’s efforts towards health equity and inclusiveness from the National Health IT Collaborative for the Underserved.
After his visit to the capital, Governor Bryan will head to Chicago, Illinois, to speak at the Benzinga Cannabis Capital conference, which is organized to bring together cannabis entrepreneurs and investors from across the nation.
