The Bryan-Roach administration has issued approximately $5.4 million in income tax refunds to about 1,632 Virgin Islands filers, bringing the amount paid during fiscal year 2026 to more than $37 million.
The latest round covers taxpayers who are owed refunds and filed their income tax returns with the V.I. Bureau of Internal Revenue through June 28, 2024, Government House announced Monday.
Government House Director of Communications Richard Motta Jr. announced the payments during the administration’s weekly press briefing on July 13.
“In closing this afternoon, I am pleased to announce that the Bryan-Roach Administration has issued another round of income tax refunds totaling approximately $5.4 million to about 1,632 Virgin Islands tax filers,” Motta said.
Fiscal year 2026 began on October 1, 2025. The more than $37 million issued during the fiscal year includes refunds paid in November and December 2025, a $15 million disbursement announced earlier this year and the latest $5.4 million release.
“This latest payment continues the administration’s steady work to bring income tax refunds current,” Motta said.
The administration has made regular refund payments a priority, with the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Department of Finance and Office of Management and Budget processing payments as government revenues become available and tax returns are reviewed and verified.
“We thank the Bureau of Internal Revenue, the Department of Finance and the Office of Management and Budget for their continued work to process these payments and ensure eligible taxpayers receive the refunds they are owed,” Motta said.
Government House said the continued issuance of refunds forms part of the administration’s broader focus on financial discipline, accountability and management of the territory’s outstanding obligations.
The administration also said the payments can provide relief to households managing expenses including groceries, utilities, transportation, school needs and other daily costs.
Additional refunds will be issued as revenues become available and eligible returns are processed and verified, according to Government House.
