ST. CROIX — The government will conclude its temporary non-potable water distribution operation in Frederiksted after Monday, September 7, as conditions in WAPA’s St. Croix water system continue to improve following the restoration of production and rebuilding of water inventory and pressure.
All three distribution sites will remain available through Monday for residents who still require assistance.
The locations are the Reinholdt “Rookie” Jackson Sports Complex, the former Arthur A. Richards Junior High School campus in Estate White Lady, just south of the Walter I.M. Hodge Pavilion, and the Frederiksted parking lot adjacent to Midre A. Cummings Park.
The temporary sites were established to ensure Frederiksted residents and surrounding communities had access to non-potable water while the V.I. Water and Power Authority worked to restore adequate inventory and pressure across its St. Croix distribution system.
With water production now restored, WAPA continues rebuilding system inventory and stabilizing pressure. The administration said those improvements have allowed it to begin winding down the emergency distribution operation while maintaining all three sites through Monday.
Government House thanked residents for their patience and cooperation during the response, along with emergency personnel, private water haulers, government agencies and other partners involved in the distribution effort.
Residents are being encouraged to continue monitoring official updates from WAPA, VITEMA and the Government of the Virgin Islands regarding water service.
