The V.I. Dept. of Labor on St. Thomas, USVI.

The V.I. Department of Labor has announced the temporary closure of its St. Thomas office, effective today at 4:00 p.m., due to an unexpected fuel shortage that has impacted the office’s generator. The department said the issue has arisen from a delay in fuel delivery, which has left the office without a reliable power source.

DOL said the generator at the St. Thomas office is critical for maintaining operations during periods when direct power from the V.I. Water and Power Authority is unavailable. Without a steady power supply, the department said it is unable to continue normal business activities at this location. As a result, the office will remain closed until the fuel supply is replenished or a stable power connection from WAPA is restored. DOL did not say when this would happen.

The department said it recognizes the inconvenience this closure may cause to clients, and apologized for the disruption in services. In the interim, residents are encouraged to contact the St. Croix office by calling 340-773-1994 or to access services online through the VIDOL website at www.vidol.gov.

"VIDOL is actively working to resolve this issue and will provide timely updates as the situation evolves. We will notify the public immediately once the St. Thomas office is able to resume full services," the department stated.
