In his sixth State of the Territory Address, Governor Albert Bryan Jr. announced the nomination of the Honorable Harold W.L. Willocks to serve as a Justice on the Virgin Islands Supreme Court.

The V.I. Supreme Court, established in 2006, has been marked by the service of three exemplary justices, and Governor Bryan’s nomination of Judge Willocks is a continuation of this tradition of judicial excellence, Gov't House said.

“The Virgin Islands Supreme Court has been a pillar of justice and fairness. Tonight, I am honored to nominate Judge Harold W.L. Willocks, a jurist of impeccable caliber, to join this esteemed body," Governor Bryan stated.

Judge Willocks brings to the Supreme Court over two decades of extensive legal experience, having held notable positions such as the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court, Chief Public Defender, and Assistant Attorney General. His significant tenure on the Superior Court has been characterized by a steadfast commitment to the law and service to the community, Gov't House said.

Mr. Bryan highlighted Judge Willocks' deep connection and understanding of the Virgin Islands community, emphasizing his elevation to the Supreme Court as not only a personal achievement but also a reflection of his lifelong dedication to public service.

In addition to his judicial duties, Judge Willocks is a published author, contributing to the legal literature and discourse within the Virgin Islands. His written works further underscore his intellectual depth and grasp of legal principles.

Expressing his confidence in Judge Willocks, Governor Bryan described him as a “consummate public servant,” whose wisdom and compassion make him an exemplary candidate for the Supreme Court. “His appointment will undoubtedly fortify the judiciary's role in our democracy, ensuring that justice is served with wisdom and compassion,” said the Governor.

The appointment of Judge Willocks stands as a pivotal moment in enhancing the judicial system of the Virgin Islands and aligns with Governor Bryan's vision of a progressive and equitable judiciary.
