Governor Albert Bryan said Monday he was working on a plan to make funding available through the CARES Act to provide stimulus payments to educators.

Speaking during his Covid-19 response update briefing Monday, the governor said the funding would reimburse educators through a stimulus check for personal costs that saw educators providing certain school supplies and services that made virtual learning possible.

"All the extra tools, resources, internet, whatever it needs," he said referring to the resources educators made available out of their personal funds. "Our teachers have gone way out of the way to make sure they're finding new innovative ways to keep the students involved. It's not easy and we want to encourage them."

Mr. Bryan added, "We want to assist in easing any financial burdens incurred as a result our virtual learning mandate."

A timeline relative to when the payments would be provided was not divulged, though more information is expected in the coming weeks.
