Governor Albert Bryan Jr. joined entrepreneurs, innovators, and industry leaders at the annual Urban Golf Weekend in Miami, where he used the platform to highlight the business advantages of the U.S. Virgin Islands and its vision for long-term economic growth, according to Government House.

During the gathering, which blends networking, community engagement, and business dialogue, the governor met with a diverse group of entrepreneurs to promote the territory as a hub for trade and investment, the release stated. He explained that the Virgin Islands’ free trade zone status creates unique opportunities for businesses involved in importing and exporting goods, helping them avoid costly tariffs and access wider markets.

Governor Bryan pointed to the territory’s policies that support entrepreneurship, foster investment, and strengthen economic partnerships. He noted that the administration remains focused on building a resilient economy rooted in innovation, commerce, and opportunities for Virgin Islanders.

The event also served as a moment of recognition for Bryan’s public service. According to the administration, he was presented with the Eagle Award by Urban Golf Weekend founders Clifford Addison and his partners, honoring his efforts to expand economic development and create opportunities for underserved communities.

“This event was not only a tremendous success but also an important moment to share the Virgin Islands story,” Governor Bryan said. “We are excited about the interest and enthusiasm we received, especially from the African-American community, and we look forward to welcoming new entrepreneurs and investors to our shores.”

Beyond the networking and recognition, the Urban Golf Weekend doubles as a fundraiser. Proceeds from the tournament support scholarships that assist students in pursuing educational and career opportunities, furthering the event’s mission to invest in the next generation.

Governor Bryan tied these efforts to the territory’s Vision 2040 plan, which aims to build a high-value tourism sector, encourage entrepreneurship, and create a resilient economy with lasting opportunities for all Virgin Islanders.
