The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed H.R. 6363, a Continuing Resolution (CR), to ensure the government remains operational and prevent a potential shutdown. In response to this legislative development, USVI Delegate to Congress Stacey E. Plaskett issued a statement emphasizing the importance of this action.
Ms. Plaskett expressed satisfaction with the House's ability to navigate recent challenges and reach a consensus. "This week, the House passed a Continuing Resolution (CR) that would keep the U.S. government running at its current budget into next year," she stated.
The congresswoman emphasized the potential repercussions a government shutdown would have had on the Virgin Islands, underscoring the CR's role in preventing such a crisis. "A swift resolution through this CR provides stability, allowing the Virgin Islands to maintain vital programs and services without interruption," she explained, adding that this move is crucial for safeguarding the overall welfare of the islands' residents, especially during their recovery phase.
