U.S. Coast Guard Completes Vessel Removal And Maritime Pollution Mitigation In USVI

The U.S. Coast Guard and all of its federal partners and contractors, in support and under the direction of the territory's Department of Planning and Natural Resources (D.P.N.R.), completed maritime pollution mitigation and vessel removal operations Wednesday in the U.S. Virgin Islands per the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Emergency Support Function -10 mission assignment, the Coast Guard announced Friday. Resolve Marine Group personnel completed the removal of the final vessel in Benner Bay Wednesday and placed it in the temporary staging area near Red Hook, St Thomas, according to the Coast Guard. D.P.N.R., U.S. Coast Guard, Environmental Protection Agency, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Army Corps of Engineers established the ESF-10 incident command post at Yacht Haven Grande in St. Thomas and began operations Oct. 16, the Coast Guard said.
