The launch of Our Town Frederiksted, Inc.'s (OTF) new music series, "Rhythms at Sunset," brought a lively crowd to Verne I. Richards Veterans Memorial Park on Friday night for an evening filled with culture, music, and community spirit. The inaugural event featured a lineup of local talent, including live performances by Kevin Williams, Jr., The Troublemakers, Tony Richards & Friends, and spoken word artists Kaden and Dese.
Attendees gathered in the heart of Frederiksted to enjoy the first installment of what OTF says will be a monthly series, set to take place every third Friday. The event was designed to bring the community together, showcasing local talent and providing a space for entertainment, food, and fellowship. Vendors offered a variety of refreshments, including food, drinks, and handcrafted goods from local artisans, while the picturesque Frederiksted sunset added a natural charm to the festivities.
"We are thrilled with the turnout and the energy at the launch of Rhythms at Sunset," said Aimée Griles-Cariño, executive director of Our Town Frederiksted. "It’s incredible to see the community come together in this way, and we look forward to continuing this series to support the cultural and economic growth of Frederiksted."
In addition to music and spoken word, the event featured a bar that accepted both cash and tap-to-pay options. The bar, along with a range of food and craft vendors, will be a recurring feature at future events, offering a consistent lineup of local flavors and artisan products.
The success of the launch was made possible through the support of volunteers, sponsors, and community members, all of whom were instrumental in bringing the event to life. OTF expressed gratitude for the ongoing support and enthusiasm that made the series kickoff a memorable occasion, and hopes that Rhythms at Sunset will become a staple in Frederiksted's cultural calendar.
