ST. CROIX — The Strand Street Parking Lot in downtown Christiansted will be closed to the public from the evening of Friday, July 17, through the morning of Sunday, July 19 for a music event expected to bring more than 1,000 patrons into town and create added foot traffic for nearby businesses.
The V.I. Department of Public Works announced the temporary closure, advising that the lot will be unavailable for public use during that period. Any vehicles left in the parking lot will be towed at the owner’s expense.
Organizers say the event is expected to draw strong activity into Christiansted, creating added sales opportunities for restaurants, bars, vendors, shops and other businesses in town.
The music event is being presented by BossLady Promotions, and will be headlined by top USVI artist Jougo, Shaw HP, Rainman and Swanks, Preshur-Pac out of Anguilla, Sisa, Bsquad and others. Music will be provided DJ Shay and Kimo Dan. It is being promoted as a powder and foam experience featuring water trucks, pools, water slides and a foam pit. A dry zone will also be available.
Activities begin at 10:00 p.m. Saturday through 4:00 a.m. Sunday at the Government Parking Lot in Christiansted town. Event organizers say cleaning will take place immediately after completion, and the parking lot is expected to reopen sometime Sunday morning.
The event will include separate age requirements for different areas. The wet side is listed as 18 and older, while the dry side is listed as 21 and older.
Tickets are priced at $60 and are available on Eventbrite. Food will be available for sale by Taste of T’s.
The event is sponsored by Cruzan Rum, Falcon VI and Plaza Extra East.
Residents and visitors planning to be in downtown Christiansted during the weekend are advised to plan ahead for the parking lot closure and remove vehicles before the closure period begins.
