As the holiday season approaches, the V.I. Economic Development Authority and its Enterprise Zone Commission, in partnership with the V.I. Council for the Arts, is once again curating a shopping experience featuring the best products from right here in the territory.
The pop-up shop, which will appear at the Dorsch Center for the Arts in Frederiksted between November 30 and December 2, will showcase a diverse range of 100 percent locally made products, including USVI treats, woodwork, candles, beauty products, seasonings, bags, clothing, artwork, and more. It presents an ideal opportunity for holiday shoppers to find unique gifts while supporting local artisans and manufacturers.
The initiative, part of the American Express Neighborhood Champion for the Shop Small® movement, will also feature free entertainment, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Deri’andra Tucker is set to perform during opening day on Thursday, followed by Stanley and the Ten Sleepless Knights, who will bring live music to the vibrant shopping experience on December 1.
“Bringing the Made in the USVI Pop-Up Shop to St. Croix each year is a special treat for us and demonstrates our support of local manufacturers," said Nadine Kean, managing director of the Enterprise Zone Commission. "Our rich culture is reflected in these unique products, offering shoppers a chance to enjoy a social and community-oriented holiday shopping experience.”
The Made in the USVI initiative began on St. Thomas in December 2018, and has since expanded to include St. Croix and St. John over the past five years. This year, a permanent Made in the USVI kiosk opened at Vendor’s Plaza in St. Thomas, surrounded by branded vendor kiosks. This way, shoppers have ongoing access to local products outside the pop-up shop schedules.
Shoppers can visit the Made in the USVI Pop-Up Shop on St. Croix from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM on November 30 and December 1, and from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon on December 2, 2023. A similar pop-up shopping experience is slated to open on St. Thomas on December 14, 2023.
