Downtown Shutdown, the annual Christiansted entertainment event organized by promoter and entrepreneur Kamal Russell, is returning like so many activities after being shelved for three years as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The event, which takes place tonight from 9:00 p.m. through 4:00 a.m., sees a surfeit of entertainers — lots of deejays and artists — performing at various outlets in downtown Christiansted until near daybreak.

Though tickets are sold out, organizers say attendees can pay at entry.

Events will be held on Company Street, where DJ Avalanche, DJ Swain, Trinity Krew and DJ J'Shante, along with artists Pumpa and Kruziano will perform.

Inside Levels VI, the popular bar and nightclub which is also located on Company Street, there will be entertainment from BugzBugs, VI Dream Team, Big Kat, Rowdy Redz, DJ Pollo, DJ Karl and Selecta Kuff.

At Dazzled, which is one of the newest additions to the entertainment and nightlife scene in Christiansted, performances will come from Junior Sparks, Tizzi, AJ Davinchi, DJ Troopah, DJ Chubby,  Kimo Dan, Syndicate Sounds, Crown Royal Sounds, DJ Smooth & MC Jahverse.

Ah'Millian, Zion Roots Sounds, DJ Babzey, DJ Genius & Mr. Energy, Fyah Emblem and Star General will perform at Luncheria.

At the Common Cents Pub there will be entertainment from Unlimited Sounds, DU Jumbie and DJ 4T.

"KDM Productions is offering the most cost effective party filled with energy and excitement and pure good vibes only," says a press release from the organizers. "Downtown Shut Down: Pandemonium, will feature 23 deejays, local artist performances throughout the night, four venues and the street for just one price."

This year, Mr. Russell partnered with entrepreneur Shantel Albert for the event.
