The Supervisor of Elections, Caroline Fawkes, is urging voters to verify their registration status before heading to the polls on November 5th. The reminder is aimed at ensuring that voters experience a smooth process when casting their ballots at voting centers across the territory.
There are multiple ways for voters to check their registration status. Individuals can visit the official V.I. Elections website at https://vivote.gov/voters/lookup/, where they can search for their registration information. Alternatively, voters can contact or visit the Elections System office in their respective district.
The Elections System offices are located at:
- St. Croix: Sunny Isle Shopping Center Unit 26 (Former Movie Theatre Location), 340-773-1021
- St. Thomas: 9200 Lockhart Gardens (above Banco Popular), 340-774-3107
- St. John: Market Place, Suite II, 340-776-2391
Ms. Fawkes emphasized that even inactive voters remain registered to vote. Inactive voters can update their registration status at any time prior to 7:00 p.m. on Election Day to receive a ballot. Before voting, inactive voters will be required to complete an "Affirmation of Current and Continuous Residence" form. This document allows voters to confirm their continued residence at their registered address, or to notify the Elections System of a move within the same district or to a different district within the Virgin Islands.
Once the voter completes this process and casts their ballot, their registration status will be reinstated to active. Voters can also update their registration status by visiting https://vivote.gov/status/ or by contacting their district’s office.
