Virgin Islanders Set Record in Early Voting Turnout For Primary Election, Supervisor Says

Electors in the U.S. Virgin Islands are coming out in record-setting numbers to vote early in the Democratic Party's primary election, with St. Croix leading turnout according to the Election System of the Virgin Islands.

"After the first week of the 2022 Primary Election Early Voting, Supervisor of Elections, Mrs. Caroline F. Fawkes, is pleased to announce a record-setting Early Voters has cast their ballot to date," stated a release from the Election System. "With over a week remaining of the 2022 Primary Election Early Voting, Supervisor Fawkes continues to encourage the public to get out and vote early to avoid the lines on Election Day."

According to the release, electors who have participated in early voting from July 18 to date are as follows: St. Thomas: 943, St. Croix : 1,045, and St. John: 44 — for a territory-wide total of 2,032.

Early voting hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. On St. John early voting begins at 9:00 a.m. and closes at 4:00 p.m.

The early voting locations are:

  • District of St. Croix Elections Office-Sunny Isle Shopping Center Unit 26
  • District of St Croix- St. Joseph Church Hospitality Lounge
  • District of St. Thomas-St. John- St. Thomas- Charlotte Amalie High School Gymnasium
  • District of St. Thomas-St. John- St. Thomas-Tutu Park Mall (former Scotia Bank location)
  • District of St. Thomas-St. John - Julius Sprauve Elementary School Cafeteria

The V.I. Democratic Party's primary election is set for August 6.
