St. Croix Leading Early Voting as Election System Reports Steady Stream to Polls

The St. Croix District is leading the U.S. Virgin Islands with early voting numbers, the Election System of the Virgin Islands made known Monday night.

Election Supervisor Caroline Fawkes announced that the first day of early voting for the Democratic Primary saw a steady stream of citizens heading to the polls, which are open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

On St. Croix, 308 early votes were tallied, while St. Thomas saw 186 and St. John 15 — for a territory-wide total of 509. Ms. Fawkes said she expects the numbers to increase as early voting — which runs through August 1 — continues ahead of the August 6 Democratic Primary Election.

The Early Voting Locations are:

  • District of St. Croix Elections Office-Sunny Isle Shopping Center Unit 26
  • District of St Croix- St. Joseph Church Hospitality Lounge
  • District of St. Thomas-St. John- St. Thomas- Charlotte Amalie High School Gymnasium
  • District of St. Thomas-St. John- St. Thomas-Tutu Park Mall (former Scotia Bank location)
  • District of St. Thomas-St. John - Julius Sprauve Elementary School Cafeteria

 

Ms. Fawkes encouraged voters to cast their ballots during early voting and make sure to follow all guidelines: wearing a mask, washing or sanitizing your hand, and social distancing.
