Today is the primary election for the Democratic Party in the territory, and the Elections System of the Virgin Islands has announced the schedule and locations for voting, which will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Voters will have access to several designated voting centers across the islands.

St. Thomas:

  • Charlotte Amalie High School (SPRUNG)
  • University of the Virgin Islands Sports & Fitness Center
  • Ivanna Eudora Kean High School Cafeteria

St. John:

  • Julius Sprauve Elementary School

St. Croix:

  • D.C. Canegata Recreation Center
  • St. Croix Educational Complex High School Gymnasium
  • Rotary West Community Center

For the St. Croix District, the Democratic primary candidates for Senate are:

  1. Attorney Russell Pate
  2. Kenneth Kenny Gittens
  3. Genevieve Whitaker
  4. Diane T. Capehart
  5. Nereida Nellie OReilly
  6. Justin Curtis Smith
  7. Hubert L. Frederick
  8. Kurt A. Vialet

Additionally, voters can write in candidates if desired.

Because there are only seven Democrats running for Senate in St. Thomas, which is the number of candidates accepted as part of the primary election, there will be no Democratic primary election in St. Thomas.

District of St. Croix:

District of St. Thomas-St. John:

Write-in candidates are also an option for all positions.

The Board of Elections will canvass the absentee ballots in both the St. Croix and the St. Thomas-St. John Districts on Monday, August 5, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. and Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. The media, candidates, and the public have been invited to view the process.

The office locations are as follows:

  • St. Croix Elections Office: Sunny Isles Shopping Center Unit 26
  • St. Thomas Elections Office: Lockhart Gardens (Upstairs Banco Popular)
