A total of 970 voters cast ballots territory-wide as early voting opened Monday for the 2026 primary election, with St. Croix recording the highest first-day participation.
The Elections System reported 509 early voters on St. Croix, 458 on St. Thomas and three on St. John. Early voting will continue through Wednesday, July 29, ahead of Primary Election Day on August 1.
Supervisor of Elections Caroline F. Fawkes said early voting provides voters with a convenient, secure and accessible way to participate in the election on a schedule that works for them. Voting before August 1 also allows residents to avoid potential lines on Primary Election Day.
Early Voting Hours and Locations
Early voting on St. Croix and St. Thomas will be available daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through July 29.
On St. John, early voting will take place from July 23 through July 29, with daily hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The early voting locations are:
- St. Croix: Elections Office, Sunny Isles Shopping Center, Unit 26
- St. Thomas: Elections Office, Lockhart Gardens, upstairs from Banco Popular
- St. John: Elections Office, The Marketplace, Suite II, third floor
Absentee Ballots Remain Available
Ms. Fawkes also reminded voters that absentee ballots are available for anyone unable to participate during early voting or on Primary Election Day.
Voters may request an emailed absentee ballot or an in-person absentee ballot through August 1 at 5 p.m.
Applications are available at Elections System offices throughout the territory or through the Elections System’s absentee-ballot website.
