The Elections System of the Virgin Islands has released its 2024 election calendar, with key dates for candidates and voters.

Noting that the calendar is subject to change, the Elections System laid out a timeline that begins in February 2024, with training for candidates on how to complete nomination papers.

In April, the nomination process gets underway in earnest, with filing forms first available on April 8, and first able to be circulated on April 14. Nomination papers are scheduled to be filed between May 14 and May 21, with May 26 the deadline for withdrawal of nominated candidates.

On June 11, Elections Supervisor Caroline Fawkes is expected to certify nominees, whose campaign disclosure reports are due on June 30.

July deadlines include the window for political parties to submit their emblems which will later be printed on ballots. Registration also ends on July 3, the same day voting machines begin to be examined.

Notice of the 2024 Primary Election is set to be issued on July 13, with early voting beginning three days later and ending on July 23. Primary Election Day is Aug. 3rd, 2024, a Saturday.

For the General Election, early voting begins on October 14, with the official public notice set to be issued the next day. The two-week early voting period ends on October 28, with Election Day 2024 of course falling on November 5, the first Tuesday of the month. Results will be certified on Friday November 15, with run-off election activities scheduled from November 16-29 if necessary.

The 2024 election cycle closes with campaign disclosure reports due on December 30.

The full election calendar for 2024 is available from the Elections System offices or on their website.
