UVI Appoints Sharon Amey as Internal Auditor and Ian Roach as Special Assistant to the President

Amey will focus on financial compliance and risk management, while Roach will oversee administrative support, community engagement, and special projects.

The University of the Virgin Islands has added to its leadership team with hires Sharon Amey as Internal Auditor and Ian M. Roach as Special Assistant to the President. The university said Wednesday that both individuals bring extensive professional experience and a commitment to serving the Virgin Islands community.

A native of St. Thomas, Amey brings over 20 years of expertise in risk management, internal auditing, and financial compliance. During her tenure at the Virgin Islands Office of Management and Budget, she established a Compliance Unit that coordinated financial management across government agencies. Certified as both a Fraud Examiner and a Program Manager, Amey holds a Bachelor of Science in Office Administration from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and a Master’s in Biblical Studies from the Christian International Ministry School of Theology. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration from Western Governors University.

Ian Roach, a U.S. Virgin Islands native, brings over 15 years of experience in policy analysis, operations management, and strategic planning. Previously with the National Association of Realtors, he developed skills in analyzing legislative proposals and optimizing organizational operations. Roach holds a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Management from the University of Arizona Global Campus and has returned to the Virgin Islands to make a meaningful impact at UVI. In his new role, he will provide administrative and communications support to the president, manage community engagement, and oversee special projects, research, and process improvements.

Both bring exceptional expertise, leadership, and a strong connection to the Virgin Islands. Their contributions will undoubtedly strengthen our university’s operations and help us achieve our vision for the future.”
