Today voters registered as Democrats across the U.S. Virgin Islands will be casting their ballots for their candidates of choice, as the Democrats vie for one of 7 slots in the primary election to secure their bid for the upcoming Nov. 8th general election.

Only persons registered as Democrats are voting today, with polls opening at 7:00 a.m. and closing at 7:00 p.m.

The Consortium will have full coverage of the results tonight as the numbers come in. VIC Publisher Ernice Gilbert will also be hosting live coverage which will be streamed on the Consortium's website and Facebook page, WTJX's website and Facebook page, as well as WTJX TV Channel 12. Coverage starts at 7:00 p.m.

Here's what you need to know about today's election:

Casting of Lots has taken place in both districts, and it works by candidates randomly choosing a number in a box provided by the Election System of the Virgin Islands. The number chosen by each candidate determines their placement on the ballot.

Casting of Lots results for St.  Croix are here. The St. Thomas-St. John District results are here.

Voting Centers

Voters can now vote at any voting center across the territory

St. Croix:

  • D.C. Canegata Recreation Center
  • St. Croix Central High School Gymnasium
  • Arthur A. Richards K-8th School Modular Cafeteria

Voting Centers in the St. Thomas-St. John District:

  • Charlotte Amalie High School Gymnasium
  • Tutu Park Mall (former Scotia Bank location)
  • University of the Virgin Islands Sport & Fitness Center
  • Julius Sprauve Elementary School Cafeteria (St. John)
  • Calabash Boom Community Center (St. John)

Covid-19 Protocols:

The Election System of the Virgin Islands said voters must comply with the Voting Center Covid-19 protocols. "Mask or face coverings are mandatory, social distancing and hand sanitizing before entry," the System said.

Once voting centers are closed, the results will be escorted by police to Election System offices in both districts, where they will be tallied and provided to the public.

Remember, this is a Democratic Primary Election which will determine the Democratic candidates who move on to the general election to face other candidates.
