A series of grade level parent meetings have been announced for today Friday, by administrators of the St. Croix Educational Complex High School.
The announcement came on the heels of a series of disturbing videos that began circulating on Thursday showing what appeared to be multiple, separate fights between students on campus.
In several of the videos, the combatants — male and female students alike — seem undeterred by the attempted intervention of the adults attempting to quell the fracas.
While the school has not spoken publicly about the incidents, at least one of which was recorded prior to Thursday, the announcement indicates that officials will meet with parents and guardians grade by grade.
The meetings begin at 8:00 a.m. for faculty and staff, then each hour after that for 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades.
The announcement notes that today will be a non-instructional day at Complex to facilitate the meetings.
Violence on school campuses has seemingly increased since students returned to in-person learning following the pandemic, leading the V.I. Department of Education to announce, in 2022, the formation of a School Security Bureau to address the issue.
