ST. CROIX — A man was shot in the La Grange area in Frederiksted about 4:55 p.m. Friday and later succumbed to his injuries, Police Commissioner Ray Martinez has confirmed to the Consortium.
The man, identified as 27-year-old Glenmore Southwell, Jr. was performing landscaping work when he was targeted and shot in the head, according to police.
Emergency medical technicians responded to the scene and determined at the time that the victim was still alive. However, he later died from the injuries sustained as they were severe.
The latest homicide carried the territory's total for 2021 to forty: 28 on St. Croix, 11 on St. Thomas, and 1 on St. John.
