ST. CROIX — The V.l. Dept. of Education announced Wednesday an investigation into an act of vandalism on a school bus that occurred on Monday, January 22. The bus, numbered 17, was serving students from the Educational Complex High School to the Paradise/Williams Delight area when it suffered significant damage.
According to the release, following the incident, which was reported by the bus manager, Education officials took prompt action to investigate the matter. Due to the extent of the damage, Bus #17's service has been temporarily suspended, impacting the route it services. Parents and guardians of students who use this service have been formally notified about the suspension.
Education officials condemned the act of vandalism as unacceptable, which they say highlights a disregard for the resources and services provided to students. The department calls for the cooperation of students who regularly use Bus #17, as well as their parents and guardians, in resolving this issue.
The department said it is working diligently to conclude the investigation and restore bus services as soon as possible. Officials are seeking the collaboration of all stakeholders involved to ensure a swift resolution to the situation. The department assured that parents and guardians will be updated on the progress of the investigation and the resumption of the bus service for the affected area.
