Richard Motta Jr, The Government House communications director, said that he has some good news for residents that have been waiting on the Emergency Rental Assistance Program. That news was “the program officially opens today.
The program was originally announced in February and now Virgin Islanders will now be able to receive the benefits of the program if they are deemed eligible.
The Virgin Islands Housing Authority website describes the program. “The Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) has been created to help individuals and families who have been financially impacted by COVID-19 to pay rent and/or utilities dating as early as March 2020. If you rent your home and have fallen behind in monthly payments to your landlord, you may be eligible for funding that could prevent you from eviction due to non-payment.”
He then shared where Virgin Islands can get more information about the Rental Assistance Program. Interested people can contact the Virgin Islands Housing Authority at 340-772-4432 or 340-777-4432. The information is also available online here.
