A second batch of 10,000 stimulus checks worth $1,400 each will be sent to qualifying Virgin Islanders this week, said Lt. Governor Tregenza Roach during the Bryan administration’s weekly press briefing Monday.

He said the administration was on track to mail out all stimulus checks connected to the $1,400 payments in the month of May, with the average amount going out per household equating to approximately $2,500, Mr. Roach said.

The lieutenant governor also thanked Clarina Modeste-Elliot, assistant commissioner of the Dept. of Finance, who served as acting commissioner from Oct. 2020 until a replacement for Kirk Callwood was chosen. “She has done a great job of steering the department and performing her normal duties. I also wish to thank her personally for her service on the Banking Board, which I chair. We thank her dedication to the people of this territory and for the wonderful work," the lieutenant governor said.

Bosede Bruce started her tenure as commissioner of D.O.F. Monday. “We are excited to add her to the team and wish her well," he said.
