Governor Albert Bryan has authorized the Virgin Islands Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) to pay out an additional $11 million in Income Tax refunds to tax filers in the territory this week, Government House made known late Monday.
The latest disbursement includes approximately 4,345 refunds and along with some, but not all, returns filed in tax year 2017, the administration said. The payments will be welcomed news to Virgin Islanders ahead of the holiday season.
According to Government House, the Bryan/Roach Administration continues its commitment to addressing the long-standing obligations of the Virgin Islands Government and to making good on its promise to restore the trust of the people in their government.
The $11 million follows a $4 million issuance in September.
