The V.I. Department of Public Works has announced the completion of the Vincent F. Mason Sr. Coral Resort project — known as the Vincent Mason Pool — on the island of St. Croix, marking another milestone under its capital improvement initiatives.

The project was executed by J. Benton Construction, LLC and forms part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance public spaces and community resources across the territory.
The revitalized facility features numerous enhancements aimed at inclusivity and family-friendly experiences. Among the key upgrades are a beach-style entry, particularly beneficial for children and seniors, and an ADA-compliant lift to ensure accessibility for all visitors. Additional improvements include shaded huts, new tiling, modern BBQ grills, cabanas, and updated playground equipment—all designed to provide a relaxing and enjoyable environment for the public.

The five-acre recreation center near Sandy Point in Frederiksted was named in honor of long-time DSPR employee and ardent community sports fan and supporter Vincent Mason, Sr., in 1980. It quickly became one of the island's primary recreational facilities hosting a wide array of activities on a regular basis prior to the 2017 storms.
