Virgin Islands recording artist Dennis "Pumpa" Liburd has released a new soca track in collaboration with Trinidadian soca legend Machel Montano. The song, titled "Her Mudda", was initially slated for release during the previous Trinidad Carnival, was postponed to align with Pumpa's strategic plans.

Pumpa, known for his 2023 hit "A List," opted to delay the new track's release to avoid overshadowing his earlier success. He explained, "I asked Johnny Blaze and Stadic to hold it... because 'A List' was going to be my dominant song for the Carnival season."

The collaboration with Montano materialized after other artists expressed interest in joining the project. Pumpa stated, "A few artists... wanted to be on my song in particular... I basically told Stadic and Johnny Blaze that the only artist I think I may... say, 'Okay, well, it's a done deal,' is Machel." Upon hearing the track, Montano agreed to the collaboration.

The song's release was strategically timed to coincide with the St. Croix Festival and the upcoming Trinidad Carnival. Pumpa noted, "I wanted it to release exactly around this time, so it could have been more catered to St. Croix Festival and roll straight into Trinidad Carnival."

Reflecting on working with Montano, Pumpa expressed admiration for the soca icon's dedication to perfection, stating, "You definitely understand the reason why Machel is... the greatest of all time when it comes to Soca." He also acknowledged the support of producers Stadic and Johnny Blaze, emphasizing the importance of timing in the song's release.

Pumpa, a prominent figure in the Virgin Islands Soca scene, continues to represent his community on the international stage. He encouraged fans to support his music across various platforms, including Instagram (@iampumpa), YouTube, Spotify, and iTunes.

Machel Montano, born on November 24, 1974, in Port of Spain, Trinidad, is renowned for his high-energy performances and significant contributions to soca music. His career began at age seven, and he has since become one of the genre's most influential artists.

The collaboration between Pumpa and Montano is anticipated to be a highlight of the upcoming festival season, with plans for joint performances at the St. Croix Festival and Trinidad Carnival.
