This year's Crucian Christmas Festival is expected to be one of the most memorable showcases of St. Croix and Virgin Islands culture, and momentum is heating up beginning this Sunday at the Division of Festival's "Tropical Jubilee: St. Croix's Pageant Presentation Show".
Come see in person the contestants for Miss St. Croix and contestants for the Princess/Duchess event.
The Division of Festivals is promising "dazzling fashion, great entertainment and food and beverages."
The event takes place at the Reading Rainbow School beginning at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $25, according to the Division of Festivals, and can be purchased at Urban Threadz in Sunny Isle, and the V.I. Dept. of Tourism's office in Frederiksted.
The Miss St. Croix Pageant, scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 18, includes three St. Croix women vying for the crown: Contestant #1 Rynel Harris, Contestant #2 Helena Gonsales, and Contestant #3 Kenaiya Henry.
The Princess/Duchess show, set for Sunday, Dec. 11 features five participants: Princess: Avanae Hurtalt, Zy’Naii Prentice and Anya’ Ettienne. Duchess: Jetalia Hanley and O’Nae Milligan.
The Consortium met the Princess and Duchess contestants at the D. Hamilton Jackson Day event in Grove Place on Tuesday, and they all appeared ready to put on a show for attendees.
Sunday's event sets in motion a wide range of activities the Division of Festivals and the Dept. of Tourism have been preparing for the 2022-2023 Crucian Christmas Festival. This year's showcase will also be the first complete major cultural celebration on St. Croix since the Covid-19 pandemic affected the world in 2020.
