In a three-and-a-half hour long spectacle of lights, music and entertainment, the 2023 St. John Celebration Royalty pageant was held on Saturday night.
Patrons flocked to the St. John Carnival Village, where they were treated to the pomp and pageantry of two contestants vying for the prestigious crown of Miss St. John.
Aside from the usual categories of swimwear and evening wear, contestants also were required to participate in an “International Wear”/Talent segment, in which they paid homage to the countries of Nigeria and Barbados respectively. Of course, the question and answer segment was also highly anticipated by the gathered supporters.
At the end of the evening, Contestant #3, N’Quana Davis, captured the Best International Wear/Talent award. Both participants were awarded the Miss Congeniality award, while Taezha Maduro, Contestant #2, swept the other categories; Miss Intellect, Best Evening Wear, and Miss Photogenic.
Ultimately, it was Ms. Maduro who was crowned the St. John Celebration Queen for 2023. De’Jeannique Callwood, who showcased her sportswear at the beginning of the evening, was named St. John Celebration Princess for the year.
