The long-running tradition of Easter camping on St. Croix got tested this year when torrential rainfall impacted Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands on Thursday — the day many leave their homes and head to beaches across the island to spend several days.

St. Croix saw some flooding and rain lasted all of Thursday, and there were questions about how the showers would impact the decisions of those intending to camp. The answer to that question? Nothing can stop Easter camping on St. Croix.

Across the 84 square mile island, beaches were dotted with tents, makeshift kitchens and other camping essentials as resident brave what is projected to be a weekend of overcast weather, according the the National Weather Service.

In the picture above, campers at Cramer's Park on St. Croix's east end woke up to a beautiful sunrise Friday morning.
