Taste of St. Croix to be Held Virtually on April 29 at Divi; Other Taste Events for 'Vaccinated Persons Only' Through May 1

Taste of St. Croix and the V.I. Department of Tourism are gearing up to showcase some of St. Croix’s favorite culinary locations, albeit virtually this year on April 29 at Divi Carina Bay hotel, and in-person for vaccinated people the following days through May 1 at other sites, the nonprofit announced this week.

According to the release, the events will include dishes/recipes that are famous in the territory, some past winners and more features.

"This virtual culinary experience will also highlight locations on St. Croix that showcases the territory’s readiness in food, spirits and more, as we re-open to the world, post pandemic," reads the release.

The entire weekend will be professionally filmed and broadcast live, Taste said. "The world will experience the events live as the action unfolds online via Facebook, kalalloo.com and other online and television media platforms."

Events:

Thursday 4/29/21:  Virtually Tasting @ Divi Carina Bay Resort & Casino (Casino Garden/lot and Banquet Room, April 29th) 6 to 9pm.  Press and sponsors only; no tickets will be sold for this event. 

Friday 4/30/21:  Sunset on the Terrace @ The Buccaneer, 5:30pm- 7:30 pm Tickets are set at $85.00; Limited tickets, vaccinated people only.

Saturday 5/01/21: Bubbly Brunch/Food Presentation @ The Fred:  2 Seating 11:00 am and 2:00 pm… Food Presentation @ 5pm; Tickets are set at $85.00 limited tickets, vaccinated persons only.

Taste of St. Croix Covid-19 initiatives 

Office of the Governor & Taste of St. Croix Inc. Covid-19 Cares Grant Program: $250 Grants  

($150 shopping credit and $100 farmers coupons) are currently been awarded to restaurants and caterers on St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John, just for applying and are currently in business.   

Covid-19 Thermometer Distribution Program – Distribution of over fifty (50) Handheld Touchless Thermometers to restaurants and caterers on the island of St. Croix.  Beginning in May of 2020, just weeks after the governor of the USVI proclaimed a State of Emergency, Taste of St. Croix Inc. said it began its free thermometer distribution program, "giving out thermometers to restaurants, caterers and farmers on St. Croix at no charge to them," Taste said.
